Getting to Oxenwood
The wheel of the year turns once again.  Summer gives way to autumn; the days shorten, the nights lengthen; the harvest is safely gathered in and the birds are flying south to seek better climes.

In this fair land of the Isles of the Dragon, the people prepare for the winter months.  During this time, the land will need a steward, a strong arm to guide us through, to defend us with sword and shield.  Our current leaders, Barún Pól Ó Briain and Caitriona of the Ravens must take their leave and so they seek their successors, those brave people who will stand up and fight for the right to be Viceroy and Vicereine of Insulae Draconis.

The Shire of West Dragoningshire invites all lords, barons, knights, squires, along with their ladies and all other gentles of any station to join them for the eighth Insulae Draconis Viceroy Tournament. at the Oxenwood Outdoor Activity Centre, near Hungerford in Wiltshire.

Here, in the heartland of West Dragoningshire, in the presence of Their Majesties Alaric & Nerissa, those brave souls who choose to fight for honour and glory and the right to lead these fair islands will test their mettle in armoured combat until but one stands alone and victorious, ready to receive the chains and cloaks of office, and to take their seats upon the Viceregal thrones.

The tournament gives a chance for those men at arms to test their skill against others.  For these lands to be strong, it is necessary that there be many who are fit to stand up and fight to defend their homeland, and among those, some who will have the skill to step forward and stake their claim to lead in future tournaments. To this end, His Majesty has graciously consented to conduct a training session for those fighters who wish to improve their skills.  So all fighters, whether or not they are entering the tournament, are encouraged to bring along their armour and weapons and take advantage of this training session.

For the land to remain strong, the gentler arts should not be neglected.  For those whose ambitions and interests lie not in matters marshal, there will be an Accademia dell'arte during the weekend.  An opportunity to display or practice your arts and sciences skills, and perhaps to learn from others.

So, good gentles, pack your bags, take up your arms, and join us for a weekend to celebrate all that is great and glorious about these fabled islands, this great land of Insulae Draconis!
